Aston Martin One-77 goes 220, just shy of new record

While not the fasted British car, that title belongs to the McLaren F1, the One-77 still managed to achieve 220 mph. The 7.3-liter V12 engine makes – between 700 and 740 horsepower, and around 553 lb-ft of torque. The test was conducted on “dry, but windy conditions.”, so we can rest assured that the One-77 can go even fast, further challenging the F1.

The McLaren F1 produced “just” 627 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque. Obviously, the 2,514 pound F1 is much lighter than the 3,308 pound One-77, however, which actually makes 220 mph run all the more impressive. The One-77′s will be available in mid-2010 for £1.25 million – just a bit under $2 million.
