Lotus fans, listen up. A joint venture is in the making between Lotus and Cosworth to develop ultra-high performance engines to power both production and race cars in the future.

As you all know, Cosworth is known in motorsports as a winning engine supplier. They will be working on existing Toyota powertrains to create high-end engines for racing applications, the first of which is a V6 engine for the new Lotus Evora Cup race car.

Group Lotus CEO Dany Bahar has all the confidence in Cosworth saying “our new strategic relationship is based purely on Cosworth’s competencies, brand and race engine development capabilities. This new strategic partnership will align two of the most renowned names in the automotive world and will be of huge benefit for both organisations.”
Meanwhile, Cosworth Group’s CEO & Managing Director Tim Routsis expects “to see further triumphs not only on the racetrack but also in the competitive high performance sportscar market, where Lotus is already acknowledged as a world leader.”

Sounds like a lot in store for all you Lotus fans out there. So stay tuned!
