Mazda’s RX-7 will be out in late 2011

Mazda is going against the grain and sticking to its roots when it comes to its sports cars. While its rivals add forced induction technology and bump up the displacement to their engines to add more power, Mazda is working on a successor to its FD RX-7, which is expected to replace the RX-8, and on a brand new Renesis rotary engine as well.
Mazda hopes that the new RX-7, due to launch in late 2011, will evoke the character of the original RX-7, but will remain affordable and reliable boasting an output of 200 to 250 horsepower. The car’s styling is inspired by the Furai concept car and the 2008 Takai concept. Mazda will use a new rotary engine, the Renesis 16X, that is lighter, more reliable, and more fuel efficient than the engine of the RX-8.
